Success Story- Village Ramnagar, Pilibhit Centre

By efforts of VDC and Self-Help Group: Ensuring the Repair of the Anganwadi Centre

The Suchetna Social Service Centre initiative, operating from the Pilibhit Centre and focusing on the village of Ramnagar in Pilibhit Block, Pilibhit District, has successfully mobilized several community groups, Child Parliaments, Adolescent Girls, and the Village Development Committee (VDC). These groups hold monthly meetings where they receive training on various topics such as leadership, health and hygiene, and skill development.

On January 6, 2024, during one such meeting, the Mata Samiti and VDC identified a critical issue: The Anganwadi Centre building, where young children used to gather, was in a state of disrepair. The building was unsafe, with no proper seating facilities and a serious risk posed by snakes, scorpions, and other poisonous creatures that frequently entered the premises. As a result, the Anganwadi classes were being held in a community school instead.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the women of Matasamiti of the village, the VDC, and the local school teacher brought the matter to the attention of Village Pradhan Shri Virendra Singh. They informed him about the dangerous conditions at the Anganwadi Centre, and he assured them that steps would be taken to address the problem.

However, after three months without any progress, the Matasamiti and VDC members, under the supervision of Anganwadi worker Smt. Vibha Jaiswal, held another meeting on May 8, 2024. During this meeting, they decided to take further action by drafting a written application. On the same day, five VDC members and three Matasamiti members submitted the application to the School Management President, requesting that the issue be escalated to the Village Pradhan

Determined to see the matter resolved, four VDC members and five Mata Samiti members visited the Village Pradhan's office on June 12, 2024, and again on July 22, 2024. They continued their visits regularly, and finally, Shri Virendra Singh assured them that the repair work on the Anganwadi Centre would begin soon.

This success story underscores the power of persistence and the collective efforts of the VDC and Matasamiti in ensuring a safe and conducive environment for the children of Ruria Ramnagar. The unwavering commitment of the community, supported by the Suchetna Social Service initiative, highlights the importance of grassroots mobilization in driving meaningful change.
